Azalea study

I am getting a little more deliberate with my photography.  With a recent purchase of a macro (close up) lens recently (finally!) and with spring finally here, mother nature is providing me with all kinds of subject material to work with.  These photos are taken from an azalea bush behind my house.  This first image was actually taken in mid March - on a day I was out photographing snowflakes.  I was surprised to see the color starting to pop through the bud.  And we fell in to about a 2 week freeze.  I was afraid the weather would have a negative impact on the buds, but 2 weeks later I was happy to see that they pushed through the cold and produced some beautiful flowers!  When I see the intricate details, I love these flowering shrubs even more.

You can see more from the flower gallery here!
